“How do I find joy in the mundane life I live? My life does not feel like a wedding banquet, it feels like oatmeal everyday.”

This question was raised by one of the viewers of the the show I’m currently binge-watching on Youtube, the Chris Stefanick Show, on the episode entitled, “What is JOY Anyway?” In this video, Chris explains that we, humans, have been created by God for joy—to be happy! Now I’m not going to write a feedback on his video, or give a summary of it (just watch it for yourself, it’s only for 30 minutes… And YES, please do watch it and his other videos, they’re really good!). But what I’m going to do here is share my short and simple answer — as my mind is rather discombobulated to explain further haha — to the question above.
“How do I find joy in the mundane?” There’s just one thing that came to mind when this question came up. Actually, it’s not just a thing, it’s a person…and not just any person, it’s the Second Person of the Blessed Trinity, Jesus Christ, the Son of God. “Why Him?”, you ask… Simple, Jesus Christ lived a rather ordinary life throughout all the years before His public ministry. In fact, “mundane” was the theme of Jesus’ life for 30 years. That means He did household chores, He ate ordinary food, wore ordinary clothes, hung out with ordinary friends, did a bunch of ordinary things, and was ordinary Himself.
So if Jesus Christ, being the GOD that He is, lived and loved the mundane, what gives me, or any of us, the right to disdain it?

Btw, here is Chris’ video…enjoy!
